On Friday, September 25, EDANA wrapped up Outlook 2015; a three-day conference addressing the key business needs of the nonwovens personal care hygiene products industry. More than 420 delegates from across the nonwovens and related industries attended the event held at the Hilton Hotel in Athens, Greece. Speakers at the conference presented market data, consumer and demographic trends from Europe, Asia and the global hygiene markets, product and technology developments, and a special presentation on the role of private equity in the development of the nonwovens industry. Keynote speaker Robert Ward, editorial director of the Economist Intelligence Unit, opened the conference addressing the “Global and EU Macroeconomic Outlook.” An on the final day, David Dodwell, CEO of Strategic Access Limited, spoke on “The Rise of China and the Asia-Pacific: Understanding the challenges, harnessing the opportunities.” Other speakers throughout the conference included consultant John Pollaro, who discussed disposable absorbent products; Frank Wiesemann, principal scientist from Procter & Gamble, as well as representatives from Dow, Georgia-Pacific, Unicharm, and more. According to EDANA, it received positive feedback from participants as a result of the many opportunities for associates in the industry to meet and network, as well as the mix and quality of papers. “With the broad supply chain for the nonwovens hygiene market present at Outlook, the Athens event confirmed the value of attending for our business,” says Eamonn Tighe, European Fibers Business Development for Natureworks LLC. Ray Dunleavy, head of Global Marketing, Strategy and Business Development at Fitesa comments, “Outlook is the event where the global nonwovens hygiene industry meets. As a nonwoven supplier to this industry, it was essential that we attend and network with other participants.” Outlook 2016 will take place in Madrid, Spain, from September 21-23, 2016, and Outlook Asia will be held again in Singapore for its third edition from March 2-3, 2016.
